THE first of two meetings to be held at Littlewindsor, on the Somerset/Dorset border takes place tomorrow when the Seavington is scheduled.

An excellent entry of 115 horses has been received for the seven races.

Proceedings start with the Hunt Members’ race where Sobre Tresor looks the standout entry.

He was a well beaten second last week at Cotley in the Open race, but did make a bad mistake five fences from home, which did not help his chances.

The young Maiden race has attracted 23 entries and of those with form Culverwell was a promising third on his debut at Great Trethew and should come on for that race and Sporting Anna finished fourth.

Fishy Story was fourth at Buckfastleigh and is another to consider. Of the newcomers Jack Barber has three entries with Black Valentine, owned by Paul Nicholls, of particular interest. Classic Edition, trained by Marie McGuinness, is of interest, as well as Silver Bear, the son of Silver Sister, winner of two hurdle races for Jimmy Frost. Culverwell is chosen to step up on his debut.

The Open Maiden has also attracted 23 entries, with Rainbow Stripes the likely favourite.

Only just beaten at Milborne St Andrew, he was then third at Badbury Rings and could be the one for this race.

The Men’s Open looks a quality race, with Chapoturgeon the class entry.

A faller in the Cheltenham Foxhunters he does also hold an entry in the Lady Dudley Cup, so if he misses the race the progressive Jepeck might be able to continue his winning streak.

The Ladies’ Open looks the more likely race for Join Together, who has won two races this season including a Wincanton Hunter Chase, although Aikideau, Ohio Gold and Otis Tarda might prove the best of his rivals.

The Restricted to be run over 2½ miles has drawn 21 entries, with Jack Barber having the choice from Athreeothree or Captain Probus, both already winners this season.

Premier Portrait, the leading horse in the country with six wins to his name, is entered in the Novice Riders’ race, but he holds other entries nearer to his base, so if he is absent Triangular might give his novice rider Mick Boyce a good opportunity to break his duck.

n The course is between Beaminster and Crewkerne, off the A3066 (DT8 3QU). First (pony) race: 1pm; first point-to-point race: 2pm.
