FORMER Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been impressed by 80-year-old footballing sensation Dickie Bothwick’s heroics in the game.

Weymouth's Borthwick, dubbed as Britain’s oldest footballer, was filmed playing 90 minutes by a Norwegian film crew at the Stalls on Saturday, as a Chickerell United coaches’ XI drew 3-3 with the Chickens under-16s.

And Old Trafford legend Solskjær, now the manager of Norwegian outfit Molde, showed his support and praised the ‘oldest winger in town'.

In the video, Solskjær – known as the baby-faced assassin – says he’s ‘very impressed’ to hear Borthwick is still playing.

He goes onto joke that he himself may have retired too early and that Borthwick gives meaning to Manchester United’s motto: youth, greatness and courage.

Borthwick said: “Last Saturday, whilst I was in the dressing room, Ronny, who did most of the filming, he brought out his phone and he showed me this video of Solskjær.

“I couldn’t believe it – [Solksjaer] offering us encouragement.”
