WEYMOUTH player-boss Jason Tindall has cancelled today's pre-season friendly with Hajduk Split due to fitness concerns.

The Terras were due to take on the Croatian giants in their training facility in Split later this morning but the 29-year-old has decided not to risk his players.

Tindall, who will fly home with his squad this afternoon, told Echosport last night: "A couple of the players have got blisters and one or two have little niggles and strains so we have decided to call the game off.

"It is disappointing but I do not want to risk getting any long-term injuries. I want everyone fresh for our first game of the season on August 11 because that is the most important thing."

When asked how beneficial the four-day tour has been for his squad, Tindall added: "It has been fantastic and the facilities here are great.

"There is a full-size swimming pool and the food has been excellent. We have been having three three-course meals a day and the lads are getting plenty of rest time. The town is beautiful and the weather has also been very good.

"We have been training three times a day with a work-out early morning, a swimming pool session early afternoon and another work-out early evening, and I think the lads have really enjoyed it."

A Terras Fans' Forum will be held in the main bar at the Wessex Stadium on August 2.

The club's owner Mel Bush will be on-hand to answer questions along with manager Jason Tindall.

The event will start at 7pm and is all-ticket but only two can be obtained per person.

The tickets are free and are available from the club. Only 150 seats are available. For more information call 01305 785558.
