DORCHESTER athlete Paul Blake had a tough time of it in the men’s T36 200m final at the World ParaAthletics Championships in London.

Having qualified second slowest for the final a day previously, 27-year-old Blake was drawn in lane three for the finale, next to Australia’s James Turner, who originally broke the world record in the previous round with a time of 24.15secs.

And Turner was at it again in the finale of the competition.

He blitzed past everyone in sight to claim gold by almost an entire second with another new world record time of 24.09.

Poland’s Krzysztof Ciuksza was second in a time of 25.04 with Brazil’s Rodrigo Parreira Da Silva (25.19) claiming bronze.

Blake, who has made the transition to run over the shorter distances in this meet, finished eighth in a time of 25.65 – 0.36 of a second slower than he ran in the heat.

While he has missed out on a medal in this event, Blake is expected to compete in the 100m and 400m at the London Stadium later this week.
