HARRY Fry is pleased Unowhatimeanharry is heading to the Cheltenham Festival under the radar this year.

The 10-year-old was an odds-on favourite in the Stayers’ Hurdle 12 months ago but was beaten by Nichols Canyon and Lil Rockerfeller into third, although he did turn the tables at Punchestown.

On his last two starts, however, he has been beaten by Beer Goggles and Sam Spinner, apparently with no excuses.

With the Festival on the horizon and the country blanketed in snow, Fry is hoping to get a gallop into his small but select Festival team away from home.

“While we’ve been able to work at home, we’ve been trying to get a good gallop into them on an away day.

“That hasn’t been possible due to the weather,” said Fry in his Betway blog.

“It’s slightly frustrating, but they’ve been running all season and are perfectly fit.

“Hopefully if things improve, we can get away this week and give them a nice change of scenery to freshen them up and get them spot on for the Festival.

“Unowhatimeanharry is well and very much on target to run in the Stayers’.

“I’m quite happy for him to go there somewhat under the radar.

“He’s been written off in the market, and although he faces a stiff task as a 10-year-old, he seems in good order.

The 2018 Cheltenham Festival begins on Tuesday, March 13.
