BOURNEMOUTH cruiserweight sensation Chris Billam-Smith does not see his strict diet and no drinking policy as a sacrifice, as long as he keeps recording victories.

The 27-year-old extended to five knockout wins his perfect professional record when he stopped durable Romanian Gheorghe Danut at the O2 Academy in March.

Trained by Shane McGuigan under Barry McGuigan’s Cyclone Promotions label, ‘The Gentleman’ says he will do anything it takes out of the ring to give him an extra edge.

He told the Daily Echo: “I haven’t drunk for more than three and a half years. It’s just food for me – that is my Achilles heel!

“I miss pizza and things like that but when it comes to diet it has to be all of the good stuff.

“A few years ago as an amateur I never used to drink a lot and didn’t drink in season.

“I thought there were a lot of people out drinking between fights and thought I would stop for a period of time. I have no plans on drinking any time soon.

“I have always been quite level-headed with things like that and believe it will always be worth it in the end.

“I don’t see it as a sacrifice. It’s not a sacrifice if you achieve goals, you are just doing things you wouldn’t have been able to do.”
