WEYMOUTH 4

POOLE TOWN WESSEX 3

WEYMOUTH Under-14s won the County Cup following a pulsating 4-3 final victory over Poole at the County Ground, Hamworthy.

In sweltering 25-degrees heat, the young Terras produced a fantastic display, watched by first-team boss Mark Molesley.

The Terras started quickly, attacking at will, orchestrated by the excellent Zac Sparrow, Owen Peart, Tommy Jeff and the tireless Jack Crouch.

Weymouth led on 13 minutes when good play by Luca Davies on the left fed Finn Davies 30 yards out, who turned and hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Seven minutes later, it was 2-0 as more fantastic play out on the left saw an inviting cross headed in by Davies to claim his second.

Davies completed his 11-minute hat-trick when he rifled home after great work from Ole Underhay and Crouch. Tommy Jeff then burst through and his rocket shot went in off a post on 31 minutes.

Seven minutes into the second half, Poole made it 4-1 as the Dolphins found space to launch attacks on the Weymouth goal.

Poole’s pressure paid off 20 minutes from time when Stickland brilliantly parried a point-blank effort but could do nothing about the follow up.

Boss Martin Underhay brought on defenders Ollie Wilcock and Sam Farmer along with utility men Kyle Griffin and Mathuis Kawalec to freshen up his tiring team but Poole scored with 11 minutes remaining to make it 4-3.

Weymouth produced an incredible rearguard action for the remainder of the game, showing character as they blocked, tackled and battled all the way to victory.

Following the presentation, Molesley congratulated the team on an amazing performance.
