WEYMOUTH captain Harry Mitchell is aiming to play “more attacking” cricket ahead of his side’s meeting with Stalbridge Seconds at Redlands in County Division Two tomorrow (1.30pm).

Last time out, Mitchell felt Weymouth had failed to get out of second gear during their six-wicket loss at Cranborne, but the Seasiders’ skipper vowed to “go up the gears” more quickly against the north Dorset outfit.

He told Echosport: “We just need to try and play more attacking, really. In the middle overs we need to make it a big score rather than setting a target and try and get them out of contention.

“We know how to play at Redlands and we’ll try and go up the gears earlier this week. I’m hoping we can get right on top of them and then we can try and dominate from there.”

Weymouth currently sit in joint-third, leading a group of four teams separated by one point, while Stalbridge lie bottom-of-the-league and winless after three games.

But Weymouth are hampered by a host of unavailabilities and injuries, with Lloyd Beals, John Wilson, Kieron Womble, Neil Walton and Sami Rathnayake all missing.

However, spinner Shafeek Urumancheri returns for the Seasiders to strengthen their attack.
