BERE Regis skipper Rich Cole feels his side have a “fight” on their hands with Martinstown ahead of their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League battle at Bere Regis Rec tomorrow (1.30pm).

Cole’s men have been ousted for 84 and 113 against Stalbridge and Dorchester respectively in their past two games after an opening-day win over Sherborne.

And the Bere skipper is looking to reverse that trend against Martinstown, who have already taken two victories this season.

He told Echosport: “It would be nice to get back to winning ways but Martinstown are a useful side, so we know we’ve got a fight on our hands.

“We’ll dust ourselves off and make sure we can perform at our best. We’re looking forward to getting back on home turf.

“It’s a few years since most of the Premier clubs have played at Bere, so we look forward to getting a bit of an advantage on the other teams.

“We’re going to stick to what we know has worked and we need to see a few players hit form.”

Bere make just one change to their side, with batsman Nick White filling in for injured opening bowler Rich Payne. Crispin Brown is fit to play after injury.

On the change, Cole said: “Rich is unfortunately out with a shoulder injury, so we hope to have him back in a few weeks.

“Nick is a seasoned batsman for Bere Regis and he knows the home ground really well – I look forward to seeing him score some runs.”
