DORCHESTER Colts, have scored their first points with a thrilling last-ball victory over Puddletown Rugby Club in Division Three of the Read Woodruff Dorchester & District Evening League.

Oliver Osborne’s three wickets for 10 runs and Devon Derrien’s two wickets in his only over restricted Puddletown to 98-6.

The Colts had been struggling until Remy Wood with 30 not out backed up Oliver Osborne’s unbeaten 33 to give them their win.

Elsewhere in Division Three, there were contrasting fortunes for Winfrith who beat Frampton comfortably, J Whyte’s three late sixes and excellent bowling of 3-8 leaving Frampton well short of their 151-run target.

However, Winfrith also lost to Puddletown Reserves as M Upshall’s 56 set Puddletown 108 to win, which they reached thanks to Chris Eastment’s 34 and Michael Crabb’s 36, despite some alarms as D Joins took three late wickets.

Puddletown did not fare so well against Dorchester Casuals as Ollie Whisker’s 54 and Hayden White’s 49 set up Casuals for a 37-run win.

Plush pulled off two good victories in Division One as Andy Legg hit 79 and Owen Chubb took four wickets for 18 to set them up for a comfortable 62-run margin against Cattistock.

Plush then won a much tighter game at Bere Regis, as Graeme Stephens hit 34 not out to help set a target of 153 which Bere looked close to getting until Stuart Beasley was removed for a fighting 59, leaving his team just five runs short.

St George’s had rather less difficulty in defeating Puddletown, as Ross Baker’s 2-19 in his four overs set up Simon Proffitt (63) and Matt Randall (47) to give the Saints a comfortable nine-wicket win. The Saints are now the only team in Division One with a 100 per cent winning record, although Martinstown have not yet completed any league games, while Charlton Down, Hazelbury Bryan and Cosmos hold that distinction in Division Two.

Dorchester Casuals are ahead in Division Three with their unblemished record of successes.
