ST GEORGE’S are looking forward to Friday, July 13, when they will be in the final of the Doug Read Knockout Cup at Dorchester Rec.

Saints comfortably beat Hazelbury Bryan at Plush, Matt Randell with 44 and Jamie Barrett with a very quick unbeaten 34 helping them post 152-5.

Hazelbury were never up with the clock in pursuit, Barrett backing up his batting with bowling figures of 3-27 as Saints won by 50 runs.

Hazelbury have had a busy week, with two Division Two results reported.

Bryan beat Cattistock Seconds by six wickets, C Haynes and Alfie Fitzgerald both passing 40 as they reached 166-4 to chase down Cattistock’s 164, for whom Bradley Mullins and Ryan White both got 42, with M Lewis being the pick of the bowlers with an excellent 4-17.

Hazelbury were not so fortunate in their other game, coming up against a magnificent display from Quenton Miller when they played Dewlish.

Miller first took three wickets for just 11 as Hazelbury were restricted to 102 and then hit 40 not out to help Dewlish to a nine-wicket win.

Dewlish were also successful against Cosmos.

Duncan MacBean (30) and Harry Mitchell (31) gave Cosmos a good start but Miller then continued his good form with four wickets for 13, followed by D House (25) and Dan Belt (29no) to give Dewlish a seven-wicket winning margin.

The only Division One game reported saw Cattistock overcome Martinstown.

Oliver Lee with two early wickets in his 3-19 helped keep Martinstown to 121-6 despite a rapid unbeaten 35 from Matt Camp.

Jon Legg (45no) and Billy Walbridge (41) found this target easy to reach with nine wickets and three overs to spare.

Division Three saw some high scores as Henry Dipple (66no) and Jack Eveleigh (44no) enabled Charlton Down Seconds to overhaul Puddletown Rugby Club’s 131 by eight wickets.

Dorchester Colts were well beaten by Frampton whose bowlers kept a tight grip, especially James Pretty with 2-6 in his four overs.

Chris Walbrin’s 58 not out then saw Frampton home by nine wickets.

The Colts also went down to Winfrith, this time by 77 runs. Winfrith’s 180-1 included the week’s best score by an individual batsman at 99 not out, which went to Ashley Hayes.

Meanwhile, Cattistock face a fight against relegation from Division One in a three-way battle also involving Martinstown and Plush who are all on four points.
