DORCHESTER Sports manager Ashley James says the club are in it to win it, but insists the club do not set targets ahead of the 2018/19 campaign in the Dorset Premier League.
Sports begin their campaign away at Sherborne Town Reserves on Saturday.
James, speaking about their aims, said: “We’re bidding to improve on last season which we did last season from the previous season but we need to push on again.
“Hopefully we can do better but obviously when you are in a league you are in it to win it so that will be our plan but we do not set targets.”
“We are confident, we have had a good pre-season. We have played a lot of teams in higher leagues and we have competed with them. “
Dorchester Sports have signed Jamie Quinton from Maiden Newton while centre-half Pat Thomas has joined the club and has impressed so far during pre-season.
James said of Quinton: “He is a versatile player, he can play anywhere. So he is a good player to have available. He is very versatile so that always helps at this level of football.”
Meanwhile, Jamie Symes has left for Portland while Dan Peart has also left the club but the club are hopeful of getting two more signed by the end of this week.
Sports have had a successful pre-season including 3-1, 2-0 and 3-2 wins against Parley, Christchurch, and New Milton respectively as well as a 2-1 loss to Laverstock and Ford 2-1 and a 2-2 draw with Brockenhurst.
