WINTERBOURNE Abbas’ Amy Jo Hansford finished her season in style, taking third-place in the final round of the National Mountain Bike Cross Country Series.
Her superb results means that she claims second in the overall 2018 series.
Hansford, 24, in only her second season racing at the highest level in the country, the Mud, Sweat & Gears supported rider, rode well in the hot conditions on a hard, dusty course in Wales and took a superb third place in a competitive race.
This rounded-off a series of strong third-placed finishes which meant, due to her consistency, Hansford achieved an incredible second place overall for the series.
A lot of hard work and commitment paid off to finish the season in style and Hansford has been consistently performing at a high level all year.
She won the Southern XC MTB series after finishing first in every race, before she claimed the Southern XC MTB Championships.
Two weeks ago, she improved on last year’s performance by taking fourth in the highly competitive National XC MTB Championships, which is a one-off race where all the best riders in the UK battle for a highly coveted top-five finish.
After the podium celebrations a very happy Hansford said: “ I have had a really good year, it’s been tough but I feel like I’m improving every time I race and I’m going to train hard over the winter to try and push on to the top step of the podium as well as possibly taking part in some European races or even World Championship MTB races, which would be incredible.”
Hansford would also like to thank all her sponsors who have helped her achieve such great results this year.
Her sponsors include Mud, Sweat & Gears Cycles in Weymouth, Sports Massage Therapist Sophia from Casterbridge Chiropractic in Poundbury, Vittoria Tyres, Scott Bikes and equipment, Fabric, and not forgetting all the support from family and friends.
