A SUPERB night of darts from Matty Betts saw his team First Time Luckies claim the first team whitewash of the season.

After a 10-year absence from the oche this was Betts’ first season back and week 14 proved to be his best to date.

Taking on Mel Burton in the opening match, Betts never gave him a chance as he outscored and finished clinically in his 3-1 victory.

Betts then hit two 180s and two 16-dart legs in his 3-0 victory over Stewart Masters, before finishing with a comfortable 3-0 win over Dave Butler.

Drew Tweedy also won three out of three with some impressive darts, hitting a 180 and 100 plus checkout in beating Masters 3-0, Butler 3-1 and then a 3-2 narrow win over Burton.

Three 180s on the night from Burton salvaged a disappointing evening as he lost 3-0 to Ward. A 130 checkout saw Ward win his contest 3-1 against Masters as S club 3 lost 9-0.

Board two saw Adam McKay have another great week winning all his matches, hitting a 111 out shot in his final match and leg to take the 3-2 win over Chris Burton. Looking at tops for the win, Burton did not get a shot as McKay hit 20, treble 17 and double top.

Against in-form Paul Dormer, McKay played consistently well and took a 3-1 win, also winning 3-0 against Heidi Paice.

Dormer did the league double over Andrew McDermott as both players missed a handful of doubles in the deciding leg before Dormer hit double eight to seal a 3-2 win.

Another 3-0 success against Paice and Scott Gannon ended a good evening for Dormer.

Unfortunately for Paice it would be a winless night as she lost her opening match 3-1.

Despite defeat to Dormer, McDermott registered two more wins with an opening 3-0 victory over Burton as FIIK beat Heidi Hornets 6-3.

Mark Samways and Paul Paice kept up their recent run of great results by winning against Andy Masters and Matty Paice respectively.

Masters opened up with a 3-0 win over Terry Tucker before Paice hit a final leg 14-darter in his 3-1 win over brother Matty.

Like his wife, Matty Paice had a disappointing night losing all his matches 3-0, the second coming in a defeat to Terry Tucker.

A hotly-anticipated match saw Samways take on Masters, with the former taking this match by the scruff of the neck by hitting a 116 checkout in a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Paul Paice dominated the ever-steady Masters to claim an impressive 3-1 victory also hitting a 110 out shot along the way in a rare victory for The Silver Foxes, defeating WAM 5-1.

Mel’s mower men were back to a full quota of players upon Mel Gregg’s return but could not prevent a 5-1 team defeat to The Dogs.

Arnie Quinn opened with a 3-0 success against Trevor Honnor and ended his night with two wins out of three as he defeated Gregg 3-1.

Taking the lead and missing nine darts to go 2-0 up on Danny Aplin once again, the winter winner somehow came out on top 3-1 in their contest, a common occurrence of late for the latter.

Aplin really should have been dead and buried in his 3-0 victory over Simon Sharpe, nearly 280 points behind after some horrific scoring, he somehow managed to nick the first leg and then go on to hit a 180 and 110 out shot in the final leg. Sharpe ended the night with some great scoring and a lot better finishing in his 3-0 win over Honnor, this his second 3-0 success as he beat Gregg by the same scoreline.

It was a disappointing night for Gregg as she was also defeated 3-1 by Chris Stones.
