TWO tribes go to war tomorrow at Monmouth Avenue when Weymouth host Bridport in a Dorset & Wilts One South derby clash (2pm).

The Seasiders need a win if they are to keep on the heels of the leading pack, while the Blues will be desperate for the two points to bolster their hopes of promotion.

Many would see it as a three-horse race for promotion between Bridport, Salisbury II and Swanage & Wareham II, fifth-place Weymouth though, may have something to say about the matter.

Captain Tony Worle said: "It was interesting to hear that. It may be right but we will certainly put up a fight tomorrow and show that we have other ideas in regards to it being a three horse race.

"We are playing well at the moment so I'm confident we can compete with Bridport despite them being higher in the league than us."

Worle remains sidelined while Richard Barclay will come in for the injured Paul Tobut (bicep).

Backs Gordon Tye and Lian Berry were rested during last week's 70-5 demolition of basement boys Blandford, and are both expected to feature tomorrow.

Blues' head coach Paul Ninnim is taking nothing for granted but he believes that if his men can combat the Weymouth forwards they stand a great chance of bagging the points.

He said: "If we can contain them up front I think we should win. They have got a hefty pack of forwards so it will be a close one."

"They have got a lot better over the last season," he added. "Last year we thumped them twice and then drew with them right at the end of the season."

Dorchester will have to get past league leaders Trowbridge if they are to claim their first Southern Counties South victory since September 22.

Chris Burton's side have won just once in the league this campaign, that win coming against rock bottom Devizes.

Their task looks even tougher given that the county town outfit are averaging just 8.8 points a game while tomorrow's visitors have, on average, totalled almost 38 points per game.

Puddletown face a difficult journey to Salisbury II tomorrow in Dorset & Wilts One South.

The Villagers are in high spirits following two successive league victories, and will be hopeful of succeeding where rivals Weymouth failed two weeks ago.

Swanage & Wareham have the opportunity to close the gap on South West Two East leaders Chippenham when the two meet at Bestwall tomorrow.

The Swans though, will have to do what no other side has managed this season and beat the table toppers if they are to reduce the three point deficit at the summit.
