DORSET'S Minor Counties head coach Richard Scott has left his post to become the new second team coach at Middlesex.
Scott, 44, has been playing with Southern Electric Premier League Bournemouth since before, during and after his spell as a professional with Hampshire and Gloucestershire.
He will take up his new post in January.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for me and full-time coaching is an area I've been looking to get into for a while now," said Scott, who is studying for an ECB level four coaching qualification.
Working initially at Finchley, where Middlesex have an indoor school, and then Lord's, means an end to Scott's playing career - a decision he took towards the end of last season.
"I've had some great times and enjoyed my cricket at Chapel Gate, but life moves on and this is a great opportunity.
"When John Emburey interviewed me, I was very impressed with his stance on wanting to get English-born cricketers playing at Middlesex, instead of bringing in players from overseas, and that gives you a real incentive," he added.
