DORCHESTER Town have announced a host of fundraising events with former England and Essex captain Graham Gooch heading the list.

He will be guest of honour at a Sportman's Dinner to be held at the King's Arms Hotel in the county town on Friday, March 28.

There will be a four-course meal on offer at the event, sponsored by CNL24 Solutions, with tickets costing £38 The right-handed batsman retired from Test match cricket as England's all-time highest run scorer, playing in 118 Tests.

Gooch scored 44,846 runs in all first-class cricket at an average of 49.01, including 128 centuries.

The Magpies' will be hosting a boxing tournament, in conjunction with Dorchester Boxing Club, on Friday, April 4.

This year, the club has decided to stage the action on the pitch, instead of using a marquee outside the ground.

A ring, covered by a canopy will be set up on the Avenue grass and grandstand seats will be sold.

Fighters from all over the south of England will be heading to the county town and the cost will be £10 on the night.

Premier seats can also be purchased in advance for £20 and that will include a fish and chip supper.

The event is being sponsored by Weymouth Bay Holiday Park.

The Magpies' Player of the Season awards will be presented after the home Blue Square South clash with Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday, April 12.

Following on from that will be an Auction of Promises at the ground.
