BELLE CONSTRUCTION 71
COASTAL CHEESE 20
BELLE Construction made it an emphatic two wins from two with a 71-20 victory over Coastal Cheese in the South & West Dorset Premier Division.
Despite Coastal initially working the ball well into their shooters, they struggled with Belle’s defensive pressure and could not convert their opportunities, meaning Belle took an early lead.
As the quarter went on, Belle put their foot down and increased their advantage. As both teams made changes for the second quarter, it began just as quickly as the first.
Belle’s connections in attack were still strong and they extended their lead going into half-time.

In the third quarter, Coastal worked hard to stay in touch with Belle. Their passing and shooting was more accurate, and they put more pressure on Belle’s attack, with their WD Martha Usher coming up with seemingly effortless interceptions.
In the final quarter, Belle increased their speed of play, which really put Coastal on the back foot.
Despite remaining positive and working hard, Coastal were unable to make inroads into Belle’s strong lead and they took the win.
WJNC WILDCATS 46
WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 12
WJNC Wildcats claimed their first win of the season with a 46-12 success over Warmer Home Improvements B in Division One.
Both teams started well and there was lots of contest in the midcourt.
Play was end-to-end through the first quarter, with Wildcats sneaking ahead by one goal at quarter time.
Wildcats made some tactical changes for the second quarter and these proved incredibly effective as they began to dominate the game.
They kept Warmer B to just one goal, and their lead rapidly increased.
Warmer B played well in the third quarter; however, they were now down to six players.
This, as well as Wildcats’ excellent defensive work, meant they continued to struggle to score.
In the final quarter, Warmer B once more had seven players on court and began to push Wildcats more.
Wildcats, however, were now full of confidence and continued to put goals on the board until the final whistle.
WJNC WAVES 12
EXE TRAINING 55
EXE Training made it a hat-trick of wins in Division Two with a 55-12 triumph over WJNC Waves.
Exe created a strong lead early on with accurate shooting from GA Ellie Donoghue but Waves’ GS Willow Charlton sank some great long shots to get them on the scoreboard.
Exe used the space on court consistently throughout the first half, helping them maintain a good lead.
Waves performed well in the third quarter, challenging Exe’s attack and competing hard to pick up on loose passes and errors.
To counter this, Exe used lots of short, fast passes and were able to increase their lead in the second half, taking a big win to continue their strong start to the season.
JOE NEWTON ELECTRICAL 61
EVOLVED TUNING 3
JOE Newton Electrical clinched a dominant 61-3 win over Evolved Tuning in Division Two.
Joe Newton stormed into the lead against league newbies Evolved.
Joe Newton’s GS Camilla Assirati and GA Caragh Watt worked well together, while Evolved struggled in attack and made some errors.
Evolved worked tirelessly through the first half, especially their C Zoe Lindsey, who continued to sprint from one end to the other to keep up with play.
At the start of the second half, Joe Newton flew out the blocks once again.
As Evolved settled into the game in the final quarter, and learnt from their earlier errors, they were able to be more competitive towards the end of the game.
Their defence, especially GD Bertie Pearce, put pressure on Joe Newton, but it was not enough to stop them from extending their lead and securing one of the biggest wins of the night.
