BRIDPORT RESERVES 1

BALTI SPORTS 9

BALTI Sports sealed the biggest away win in their existence with a staggering 9-1 victory at Bridport Reserves.

Coming off the back of Balti's 5-0 loss to Wimborne Reserves on the opening day, the result comes as a massive shock.

Balti took the lead through Jake Mansley’s own goal and never looked back.

Balti's half was disrupted by a serious groin injury to goalkeeper Andy Nott, who was stretchered off after lengthy treatment.

Former Bridport striker Derek Wall raced through and beat Bees' keeper Mark Cuff for 2-0 and forward turned provider when squaring for Matty Chambers to add a third off the underside of the bar.

Stef Stavrianos, making his first start in 30 months, then netted the goal of the game, smashing home a stunning 35-yard free-kick.

After half-time, Callum Arnold hit Bridport’s consolation past emergency keeper Oscar Preece but the hosts' evening then descended into disaster.

Wall rounded Cuff for 5-1 and the striker was brought down in the area for a penalty, converted by Chambers as Balti notched a sixth.

Danny Andrews made it 7-1 with a cute near-post finish and Chambers recorded an assist, picking out Stavrianos for his second.

Bridport ended with ten men as goalkeeper Mark Cuff saw red for dissent and Balti completed a night of misery for the Bees in fitting style as the unstoppable Wall bagged his hat-trick, celebrating with a 'siu' celebration.

Balti manager Marco Nott told Echosport: "Bridport are a good side, they had a good win against Bournemouth Sports on Saturday.

"To be honest, I think we're going to go under the radar a little bit. We've got a very good squad.

"It was a thrilling victory really, outstanding from the whole entire squad including the people who weren't involved, it was a really good effort.

"With our pace going forward I always thought we were going to cause them a problem, but not to the extent we did."

Balti host Poole Borough on Saturday (3pm).

Nott said: "With a new group of lads we're going to get inconsistency this season.

"With the 9-1 we want to back that up and get back-to-back victories, which in this league is always a difficult task.

"Poole Borough will be another tough test but it will be nice to get back at Cranford Avenue and carry on our attacking threat."

Andy Nott is out, with Balti in talks for a new goalkeeper, Phil Anderson is unavailable and Jake Hawker is suspended.

Balti: A Nott (Preece 25), Gear, Anderson, Hawker, Hansford, Nichols (Summers 75), Biles, Chambers (Govier 60), F Jarvis (Andrews 60), Stavrianos (Allison 70), Wall.
