BRIDPORT have promised fans free entry to their rearranged home match against Honiton Town following the abandonment of their league match on Tuesday evening.

Two floodlight failures caused the South West Peninsula League Premier East derby to be called off after 38 minutes with Bridport 4-1 up.

Goals from Tom Richardson, Fred Parsons, Riley Weedon and Brad Rowe gave Bridport a healthy advantage before darkness fell.

The Bees appeared well on course for a fifth consecutive league victory to maintain their perfect record this season.

They would also have leapt above Ivybridge Town to top the league after five rounds.

The clubs have agreed to reschedule the match for Saturday, March 2 (3pm).

By way of apology, Bees’ chairman Adrian Scadding told the Bridport News of a generous offer to supporters for the new date.

He said: “We will be having free entry for the rescheduled match and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by the floodlight failure.”
