BRIDPORT have the “firepower” to beat Cullompton Rangers as they go in search of a remarkable seven victories in a row this evening (7.30pm).

Chris Herbst’s Bees have taken a perfect 18 points from six games in South West Peninsula League Premier East.

They are consequently second in the table behind Ivybridge and already four points above Axminster in third, with two games in hand.

However, Bridport’s eye-catching start to the campaign has caused Herbst to expect more conservative opponents in future games.

He said: “I’d imagine teams will take that stance but I’m confident we’ve got the firepower to break teams down that do sit in.

“Whereas, last year, we struggled with that. It’s always good to go into those games being on the front foot knowing the pressure’s on us.”

Touching on a potential seventh straight win, Herbst added: “The players are taking it game by game.

“At the moment the confidence is beaming. The first half (against Crediton) was the best I’ve seen us play, it was sensational.

“But we’ve got to sort out the second half. It’s not much, it’s just little tweaks we’ve got to sort out and we will get there.”

Bridport welcome back striker Brad Rowe, while Fred Parsons, Darren Lock and Luke King (all quad) are doubts.
