Under-15 Division One

WAREHAM RANGERS 2

WEYMOUTH VICTORIA 5

VICTORIA began life in the top-flight with a fine victory at Wareham Rangers.

The visitors settled well, playing some good football, and the pressure paid off as they were awarded a corner 10 minutes in.

Debutant Sam Dodge swung in a lovely ball, which Matt Roberts rose to meet to put Weymouth ahead.

With little to choose between the teams, Jake Sawyer timed his run beautifully to beat the offside trap and delightfully chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper to double Victoria's advantage.

Wareham came out after the break with renewed purpose, but the back four of Scott, Roberts, Sers and Kitchen were resolute and it was again Victoria who found the net.

Parsons found room down the right and his low driven cross rattled around the box until Wardlaw buried it home.

Rangers struck back almost immediately with a stunning 25-yard drive that the impressive Alvey could only push on to a post and in.

The hosts continued to press and scored again minutes later, heading in from a corner.

Victoria had played too well to throw this away and again took the game to Wareham.

Rawlings, who led the line well, eventually managed to get past the notable Rangers centre-back Chris Brown and slot the ball low into the corner.

Victoria finished with a flurry, with all three central midfielders linking up well when Afedakis played Dodge out wide to the right, who with a sweet cross picked out the run of Curran and he neatly headed in.
