WEYMOUTH'S Olympic windsurfing bronze medallist Bryony Shaw lies in second place after the first day of the Skandia Sail For Gold regatta at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy.
Competing in the RS:X 8.5 Fleet, the 24-year-old from Buxton Road is just behind Spain's Manchon Blanca after three races.
Nick Dempsey, also from the resort, is in second place as well in the RS:X 9.5 Fleet section, just behind GB's Shahar Zubari, while Wyke Regis' Paul Goodison, who won gold in Qingdao, is currently in 18th position in the Laser class.
The week-long event at the 2012 Games venue is the first international Olympic classes competition since Beijing.
The regatta, which finishes on Saturday, is open to all 2012 Olympic classes, with the exception of the women's match racing.
