Chickerell United boss Dave Drage is hoping his team will give a more accomplished performance ahead of their trip to Bridport Reserves at St Mary's Field tomorrow (3pm).

In recent weeks, the Chickens have recovered from their tough start where they picked up just one point from three games to record comfortable victories over Sturminster Newton and Blandford, but Drage is convinced his squad can still perform better.

He said: "We went into the first games knowing the sides we were playing are those likely to be near the top and we were using them to measure how we would fare and as we were losing by the odd goal, we were a little optimistic.

"The performances against Sturminster and Blandford were reasonable but this week I am looking to get a good result but get a better performance to go with it."

The Chickens moved up to seventh place last weekend to put them five points behind leaders Wincanton Town and Drage says his team are still getting used to life in the Dorset Premier League.

"We are still learning all the time and players week by week will get that winning mentality.

"The goal we conceded last week was from playing the ball around our own box which we simply can't do in this league but it's a big step up and we are still adjusting in certain areas."

Chickerell will be without Andy Graham and Jon Welch who are both unavailable this weekend and their places will be taken by reserve squad members.
