PORTLAND United boss Dave Kiteley wants his players to "forget" about last Saturday's defeat and instead think positive ahead of tomorrow's trip to Cranborne (3pm).

Before the 3-2 loss at Wincanton Town six days ago, the Blues had gone 30 Dorset Premier League games without defeat.

And although seeing his team's exceptional record broken, Kiteley said: "It's always important to get a reaction from the players after losing a match but the 30-game run had to end sometime. There's no disgrace in losing to a decent side.

"There's been no hangover in training following the defeat, everyone's in high spirits and we've just got to try and start again."

The islanders will have fond memories of their last journey to the Mick Loader Recreation Ground, winning 7-1 in January.

Kiteley though, is wary of his opponents.

He added: "Cranborne is always a difficult place to go. Last season we went there at a critical stage in the season and then stormed through the rest of January, so we'll be looking for the same.

"We gave them a roasting so I'm sure they'll be smarting. They're a physical side with some useful players and we've got to approach the game in the right way, forget about last week's result and be positive in the opening 15 minutes."

Last season's top scorer Matt White (bruised foot) is a slight doubt but defender Simon Austin is expected to return to the squad.

Kiteley said: "Matt has about a 70 per cent chance of playing, so fingers crossed he'll be okay.

"Simon Austin has trained after missing last week due to unavailability but it might be too soon for Andy Perkins, who has been out for over month with a hamstring injury, so he may play in the reserves, as may Carl Mutch to help boost his fitness.

"We're still waiting to find out if the cast on Sam Clarke's wrist is okay to play in."
