DORCHESTER Town visit Thurrock tomorrow (3pm) searching for their first Blue Square South win since the opening day of the season.

The Magpies, who were undefeated after four fixtures of the new campaign, last tasted victory on August 9, almost six weeks ago.

But club coach John Donoghue, who joined the county town outfit in July, is feeling positive ahead of tomorrow's trip.

The former Southampton Academy coach said: "You don't become a bad team overnight. I'm sure the fans realise how good some of the performances were in pre-season and we have shown glimpses of that good play.

"Although they're second in the table, going down 2-1 at home to Hayes & Yeading last weekend wasn't great but it was a competitive game and we did have a goal ruled out.

"We had a fantastic start to the season and were firing on all cylinders but then a couple of injuries in key positions saw us suffer a little bit. We've got a relatively young side and we're trying to keep them on the front foot.

"There isn't an easy game in this league, every team has players who've been around a bit. We've been close in every game we've played, bar Fisher, so we're looking forward to a competitive game at Thurrock.

"The pressure never comes off as you go into each game trying to win.

"We want to be successful in every game we play, and that's the attitude we have at the club."

After keeping two clean sheets in their first two league games, Dorchester are now, on average, leaking two goals a game.

Donoghue added: "It's a collective responsibility, as a group we're inviting pressure which is giving other teams opportunities.

"When the opposition have the ball you need to defend as a team, so we do need to iron that out.

"We're creating opportunities for ourselves but we're also giving teams opportunities."

The Magpies have only lost one of their four away matches this season while Thurrock, like Dorchester, are yet to win a league encounter on their home turf.

County town boss Shaun Brooks has no fresh injury worries according to Donoghue, who said: "We're expecting everyone who was available last week to be available again at Thurrock."

Thurrock's Jon Docker, who made 40 appearances for the Magpies last season, misses tomorrow's clash through suspension.
