TINTINHULL 5 EASTON UNITED 2

EASTON manager Chris Wilson refused to point any fingers after his side suffered their fourth successive defeat in a dour display at Tintinhull.

But the disappointed boss did say that the time has come for a bit of honesty and for his men to “come together as a collective.”

This latest defeat has seen United fall to fourth in the Dorset Senior League but perhaps more alarmingly they are now 12 points adrift of leaders Parley Sports although they do still hold two games in hand.

Wilson said: “At the moment I do not think it would be right for me to go publicly pointing the finger at anyone. We have just got to come together as a collective and get it sorted.

“It was a poor performance on Saturday and there is definitely work to be done. We have got to batten down the hatches and the lads know that type of display is just not acceptable.

“A few choice words were said which were all honest and now the time has come for some honesty. It is a difficult time but we will come back stronger.”

The Portlanders found themselves 3-0 down at half-time, a lead that was stretched to four shortly before Adam and Dan Skelton both netted a goal apiece to put the visitors back in it.

However, as United poured forward for a third they left themselves exposed allowing their Yeovil-based opponents to make it 5-2 in the latter stages.

Wilson added: “Our first-half performance was definitely one of the worst since I have been in charge. We did not pass the ball and we were very lacklustre.

“Four of their goals were all sloppy on our part and it was not until the last 20 to 25 minutes that we really started playing. We ended up getting two goals back through Adam and Dan but as we kept pushing forward they got another one towards the end.”
