WEYMOUTH SUNDAY LEAGUE

CARL McClements bagged an outrageous 10-goal haul as the high-flying Dorothy Inn hammered a demoralised Queens Park Venue in the Championship.

The Dot stormed into a 3-0 lead after just five minutes. Queens did manage to register before the interval but when the referee did blow for half-time a rampant Dot had added six more goals.

A bare-11 Queens were reduced to just eight players and it became rich pickings for Dorothy.

McClements’ double figure salvo could well be a league record while Ben Stanton chipped in with a hat-trick. Others that made the scoresheet at Budmouth were David Ash (2), Paul Aston, Ricky Lane and Shane Hawkridge with his first of the season.

Meanwhile, in the Premiership, Jordan Bowler fired a last minute winner for the Britannia as they sneaked a 2-1 triumph over the Railway Tavern to edge up to second place.

In dire conditions at the Piggery Damien McLucas netted for the Taverners when his speculative 30-yarder swerved viciously in the wind and beat keeper Rutland.

However, the Portlanders got their deserved leveller in the 68th minute when Bowler struck home a clean, low drive from the edge of the box.

There seemed to be just one team in it as the Brit laid siege on the Taverners’ goal.

In the closing minutes sub Rich Limm saw two efforts go close without working the keeper and it began to look as though the game was heading for a draw.

But then, with seconds left on the clock, Bowler latched onto a headed flick-on and kept his cool as he slotted home a winner low into the bottom right hand corner. In the only other top flight game played Matty Williams scored four and Jimmy Hallett netted a hat-trick as the Kingswood – boasting their strongest squad of the season – finally got back to winning ways, sweeping past the battling Punchbowl 9-3 at the Marsh.

Ricky Limm and Williams forged a superb partnership in attack and once the latter opened the scoring the Wood looked in full command.

Hallett then hit a quick-fire brace before Williams waded in with a second from a free-kick that caught out the home stopper to make it 4-0.

The Bowl then fought back and netted twice to grab a foothold in the game but Williams replied quickly when his 40-yard free-kick deceived the keeper.

Again the hosts were able to reduce the deficit but then Hallett added a sixth for the Wood, sliding in to meet Williams’ accurate cross.

After the break the visitors assumed full control and went on to net three more through Limm’s scrambled effort, Paul Lambert’s curler and a powerful drive by Williams as the Bowl finished the game with 10 men.

Back in the Championship, the Market House outscored the George 3-1 in appalling conditions at the Marsh.

Goals from Chris Mason, Badger Burley and Adam Schoffield were enough to cancel out the George’s early opener in a close contest.

Meanwhile, the Golden Lion restored order after last week’s poor 2-2 performance against the George to put six past the struggling Alex.

Goals from Kevin Lowe, Adam Smart, Daz Smyth (2), Dave Smith and Sam Husband completed the Lion’s best result to date.

Finally, the other Championship clash at Budmouth also produced plenty of goals as a lacklustre Galaxy Windows overcame spirited opposition in Clean Connections 8-4.

Skipper Keiron Reeson fired Galaxy in front after seven minutes before Lee Clarke netted his first for the club 10 minutes later.

Midway through the half Dixon’s cross-cum-shot reduced the arrears but then man of the match Bobby Jones earned a penalty that was converted by Clarke for 3-1.

In the 43rd minute Blucknet pulled one more back only for Douthwaite to fire in his seventh of the season on the stroke of half-time.

It was game on early in the second 45 as Dixon grabbed his second but his side squandered chances before Jones hammered in Galaxy’s fifth.

Sixty seconds later it was 6-3 as Fuller netted his first for the club and just a minute later it was all over when Fuller turned provider for Jones to add his second.

Late on Hutchinson’s delightful chip was voted the goal of the game but then in the 73rd minute Reeson became the third Galaxy player to notch a brace.

RESULTS: Weymouth Sunday League Premiership: Britannia 2 Railway Tavern 1, Kingswood 9 Punchbowl 3.

Championship: Galaxy Windows 8 Clean Connections 4, Golden Lion 6 Alex 0, Queens Park Venue 1 Dorothy 18, Market House 3 George 1.
