PORTLAND boss Stuart Heath believes his players have what it takes to overturn a two-goal deficit when they visit Wincanton Town in tomorrow’s Dorset Premier League Cup first round, second leg encounter.

Heath was still in charge of Weymouth Sports when the Blues lost 2-0 at home to Wincanton in last month’s first leg but the man in the island hot-seat has seen his new charges record two successive wins since he took over from previous manager Dave Kiteley.

And following the recent victories over Cobham Sports (5-1) and Westland Sports (2-1), Heath is in high spirits ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

He said: “We are going to Wincanton with confidence after two good league results and performances, and a belief that we can get through to the next round despite being two goals down going into the game.

“I think if we are patient and defend well then we have more than enough attacking quality and ability to score two goals or more at their place.

“It’s a tough challenge without doubt but the things I have been really impressed by since coming to the club is the fantastic character of the players and their determination to do well which hopefully we will see again tomorrow.”

Portland duo Callum Ross-Jennins and Adam Linaker make the trip as they continue their return to full fitness.

However, defender Sam Clarke, who missed the win over Westland to have a pin removed from a previously broken wrist, remains sidelined.
