BRIDPORT assistant-manager Andy Mason is hoping his fresh side can end a run of four games without a win when they host Oldland Abbotonians in Toolstation Western League Division One tomorrow (3pm).

The Bees have had a 13-day break since losing 2-0 to Wells at St Mary’s Field and will aim to get back to winning ways following the rest.

A hopeful Mason said: “We’re definitely looking to win after some of our recent results. We’ve played well in some of those games but the results haven’t been there, we want to change that on Saturday.”

However, Mason is wary of his opponents’ strength after his side earned a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture earlier this season, with the Bees holding out after Oldland failed to convert a penalty.

He added: “It wasn’t the best surface when we played them away but they were near the top of the table at the time so we were happy to come away with a point.

“They’re quite a big side as well, but we’re at home and we’ve got to start winning our home games if we want to make progress at this level.”

Bridport will be without suspended duo Darren Lock and Russell Legg, but are injury free, with the exception of midfielder Simon Radcliffe (hernia) who Mason hopes to see back in contention in the next fortnight.

Despite the reshuffle that will be necessary to cover the suspensions the Bees will be hoping to benefit from their weekend break, although they are aware of the mounting pressure as time since their last win continues to build.

Mason said: “It’s always nice to have a break when you’re playing badly and we definitely suffered from some tired legs out there last time.

“You’re always going to have to play that next game though and now the boys have had a rest and hopefully we can use that to our advantage.”

* Meanwhile, Bridport Reserves visit leaders Poole Borough tomorrow in the Dorset Premier League.

The Bees have won back-to-back league matches and will be hoping the confidence gained from their recent run can help spring a surprise at Turlin Moor Rec.
