FOLLOWING a highly successful season the participants of the Dorset Young People’s Karting Project received their personal achievement accreditation and trophies.

To celebrate in their achievement, the evening, hosted by Dorchester Town Football Club, was attended by members of their families, directors of Clay Pigeon Raceway and staff from Dorchester Youth and Community Services and Wey Valley School. The project is run with the full assistance of Clay Pigeon Raceway, the former race circuit of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

This unique project works with young people from varied backgrounds with the aim of developing and enhancing their confidence, self-esteem, team work and interpersonal skills.

The project has been running since 1992 and as well as producing some fine drivers, participants have also developed into becoming valued Citizens in the community.

The young people have worked all season towards a formal and recognised accreditation award showing that they can develop skills and abilities both on and off the track. These skills help them in other aspects of their lives, including home, at school and in society.

The Female Driver of the Year award went to Taylor Blake while the male accolade went to Jamie Green.

The Most Improved Driver was claimed by Sam Pounds, while Lee Rennison of Clay Pigeon Raceway was named as Clubman of the Year.

The Project has the support of the Dorset Youth and Community Service, Clay Pigeon Racing Circuit, Wey Valley School and Dorset Police.
