Under-16 Girls PARKSTONE HEIGHTS 0 WEYMOUTH 3 WEYMOUTH, with several players still carrying knocks from the previous week, travelled to Sandbanks to meet an improving Parkstone side and came away with three points.

The pitch was somewhat smaller than the visitors are used to but they soon adjusted their game to maximise what little space was available and a swirling wind made the game quite unpredictable at times.

The visitors began strongly and it was not long before Chloe Lea had a chance to put the keeper to the test. Bianca Randall broke the deadlock when she collected a long clearance from Zoe Forward in the Weymouth goal, powered through the middle and shrugged off two defenders before burying the ball in the back of the net.

Sophie Hardy, making only her second appearance back from long-term injury went close to doubling the lead before Jess Taylor went on a mazy run out of defence and was unlucky with an effort that went just the wrong side of a post.

Randall claimed her second in the second half as a result of some good work by Rachel Pedder, Rachel Sykes and Jody Urwin in midfield.

Georgia Rogers replaced Forward in goal, but the defensive combination of Taylor, Sammy Whisker, Sarah Draper and Ellen Tilsed prevented Parkstone from mounting a serious attack. Georgina Hartley went close on several occasions before having to leave the field with a recurrence of an ankle injury.

Forward, now playing outfield, combined well with Hardy and caused chaos in the box, which resulted in Hardy claiming the third goal, her first of the season.

Manager Mark Rogers said: “The girls performed well in less than ideal conditions.

“It is always difficult for these older girls when a pitch is only a junior size because there is less space for the players and the goals are smaller making it easier for the keepers.”
