DORCHESTER Town host Hampton & Richmond tomorrow with both sides desperate for the points for very different reasons (3pm).

The Magpies are just one spot and five points clear of the Blue Square South drop-zone while the title-chasing Beavers are second, three points behind league leaders AFC Wimbledon.

Dorchester though, have yet to score past Hampton in three league meetings between the two teams since the latter achieved promotion in April 2007 – the latest being a 2-0 defeat at the Beveree in November.

Assistant-manager Ashley Vick-ers is aware of the task facing the Magpies but believes they have enough in their locker to gain a positive result at the Jewson Stadium.

He said: “We’ve just got to go into the game and give it our best. We were solid at Worcester last Satur-day and if we can do that again, and not concede, then we might be able to nick a goal.

“Hampton have got a lot to play for but so have we, perhaps we’ve got more to play for than them.

“The lads are under no illusions how important each game is right now and they’re fully aware what’s at stake.

“We’ve just got to play in the right areas and hopefully we’ll able to get something out of the game. Hampton are up there for a reason but we want to secure our safety. We’ve got a full squad to choose from and we’ve got to make sure we compete.”

Another statistic the county town outfit will be keen to improve on is their poor record in front of goal. Town have only managed to score two goals in their last eight league games, whereas tomorrow’s visitors have found the net 13 times in the same number of matches.

Vickers added: “We haven’t scored many of late but we have looked more solid in other areas. Sometimes you need luck in front of goal and I’m sure it will begin to even itself out.”
