STRIKER Chris Sweetser-Hawkes will miss the Duke of Albany’s crunch Premiership clash with table-toppers the Belvedere at the Marsh (10.30am) after sustaining a dislocated shoulder in a training match on Tuesday.

The talented forward has been plagued by injury this term and is likely to miss the rest of the season, which includes the Dorset Sunday Intermediate Cup final.

Duke player-manager Luke Tomlin said: “It’s a massive blow as we were just starting to see the best of him after his six month lay-off from an ankle injury. However, we’ve got several more options in attack and I’m sure whoever replaces him will do a decent job.”

Defenders Jamie Spivey and Steve Steele will also miss out for the Duke tomorrow, along with Adam Linaker and keeper Anthony Luque who will be replaced by Clinton Coltart. Mark Carter will also return after a three-week lay-off.

Tomlin added: “We simply cannot afford to drop any points and will be going all out for the win. The Belve could afford to draw and still go on to win the league, but we'll be doing our best to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

Meanwhile, the Belve know a victory tomorrow would be a big stride towards claiming a third successive Premiership title. Player-boss Bobby Darch said: “I need another big performance from the lads because I’m expecting a better display from them after last time. What is vital is that we don’t get beaten.”

Darch will boast a strong squad tomorrow with the only absentees being Nathan Aston, Dan McDonald and Dan Skelton.

The Marsh will also play host to the Chapelhay as they look to wrap up the Championship title with victory over lowly Clean Connections.

The Taverners require three points from their last three games to ensure promotion as champions but returning boss John Willshire will no doubt be expecting to have the title in the bag tomorrow afternoon.

The Chapelhay, who have won every game since the turn of year, will welcome back Lee Doyle from injury while Shaun Murphy is a doubt.

Meanwhile, the race for second place will see the Dorothy look to make ground on Galaxy Windows at Budmouth.

The Dot lie 10 points behind the Portlanders but hold three games in hand. Galaxy boss Andy Barber, who could be without striker Bobby Jones due to work commitments, said: “This game will be a big test for our young squad but the way they have responded to recent events has been fantastic so I’m very confident we can clinch second spot tomorrow.”

The Kingswood have had the curtain abruptly brought down on their Premiership campaign by the Rendezvous’ inability to field a side tomorrow.

The two teams were due to meet at the Marsh but the nightclubbers, who sit bottom of the top-flight, have had to pull out of the encounter handing the Wood a walkover in their final league fixture of the season.

Wood co-boss Jason Wellman said: “It is a disappointing way to end our league campaign but it does bring up our 11th win on the spin in all competitions which is an incredible achievement in itself and hopefully that will be enough to see us secure a top-four finish.

“The lads have been fantastic over the past four-and-a-half months and hopefully we can continue the same form when the Len Mahoney Cup gets underway again next week.”
