WEYMOUTH Sports will be out for revenge tomorrow when they host rivals Easton United in the first round of the Dorset Senior Trophy (2.30pm).

The islanders enjoyed a late victory at Weymouth College almost three weeks ago, sparking a run of three games without a win for Steve Alcock’s Sports.

Sports welcome Ricky Lane back to the club while Scott Walker and Robbie Rolls are available once again.

However, the College outfit have been rocked by the news that midfielder Sam Culpin will be out for at least 10 weeks with medial ligament damage.

Manager Alcock said: “It’s a blow for us as he’s one of the few utility players we’ve got.

“Ricky Lane has signed though, so he’ll be in the squad tomorrow. He can play up top, right wing, and he’s even played in the centre of midfield for us in the past.”

And Alcock is keen to see his men halt their current slide.

He added: “I’m not happy with the results we’ve had so far but we’re still creating chances so we just need to start being more clinical in front of goal.”

Counterpart Chris Wilson has also bolstered his ranks ahead of tomorrow’s crunch, with the capture of striker Grant Chance from Granby Rovers.

He said: “Grant’s transfer has finally gone through and he can’t wait to get stuck in. He’s quick, he’s got a good touch and he’ll be a useful addition.

“It’s going to be a tough game tomorrow though. Sports have got some very good players and we know we’ll have to be on top of our game, because if we don’t they’ll turn us over.”

Wilson is sweating on the fitness of keeper Martin Rutland (knee) but has Ben Thayer waiting in the wings.

n Upwey & Broadwey will climb to third in the Dorset Senior League if they defeat Wool RBL at Redlands tomorrow (3pm).

Steve Reynolds’ men are unbeaten in their last three outings but face a Wool side buoyed by a 3-2 win at Weymouth Sports last Saturday.

Boss Reynolds said: “Ty Young trained on Wednesday night but I’m not convinced he’s fully fit yet. Chris Sweetser-Hawkes and Richard Frost are away so Sam Purnell is called up from the reserves and Phil Anderson is back from injury.

“Clinton Coltart will be in goal, not because Paul Bosworth has done anything wrong but to keep them both happy.”
