DESPITE missing seven regulars, FC WindowMan strengthened their position at the top of the Premiership with an emphatic 7-1 drubbing of the Chapelhay while other games fell foul of the weather.

Russell North helped himself to a hat-trick and Adam Parker’s charges can now boast a four-point lead at the top following a one-sided affair that was made easier when the Taverners’ Les Lewis was red-carded late in the first period.

Parker handed debuts to 16-year-old stopper Jimmy Clarke and midfielder Phil Lee, who fired narrowly over from 25 yards two minutes in. Mom-ents later, skipper Adam Anstey rose at the far post to head home a corner from Marc Dalley for the opener.

In the 16th minute, North latched onto a defensive error and rifled home number two and then, just three minutes later, it was 3-0 as Anstey converted at the back post following good work from Danny Andrews.

Now in total control, Window Man soon added more to their tally when Andrews fired home a penalty before North, linking well with Andrews, finished neatly for his second of the morning.

It got even worse for the Taverners as Lewis earned an early bath for his reaction to a challenge from North, who was cautioned, in the 38th minute.

Gareth Heseltine clipped the top of the bar just before the break, but just eight minutes after the switch it was 6-0 as North completed his treble when smashing home from 20 yards.

WindowMan added one more through Sean Stewart, who converted a Dalley corner on the hour, and just four minutes later Chapelhay finally found some consolation when Derek Puckett’s 25-yard free-kick squeezed between rookie Clarke’s legs.

In one of just two other top-flight games to beat the weekend downpours, Bar 314 won their basement battle with Galaxy Windows at a windswept Grove Corner.

Despite going a goal down early from the penalty spot, Bar 314’s victory was secured by some measure of comfort – 6-1.

Bryn Lewis soon levelled matters before Grant Chance gave Bar a 2-1 interval lead.

A cheeky chip from Lewis and a second for Chance made it 4-1 but the goal of the game was scored by left-back Joe Garman, who struck gold with a 30-yarder into the bottom corner, before John Cameron netted the sixth.
