Dorchester welcome back Rob Waite and Andy Mead for tomorrow’s trip to Ferndown Wayfarers (1.30pm).

The county town side are without top order batsman Dave Maslen but the blow of losing him to unavailability is somewhat softened by the return of two all-rounders.

And Mead’s inclusion in the county town attack will help fill the void left by Dan Belt, who remains in the team but is unable to bowl due to a muscle strain in his side.

Captain Martyn Richards said: “We’re lucky to have such a strong squad that even when we have to make a couple of changes the team is still a good one.

“We’re really chuffed to have Rob back this week as he is a top player while Andy is a really aggressive player with both bat and ball.

“With Dan unable to bowl due to injury, having Andy back is a real asset.

“Dan is not sure that he can bowl at 100 per cent so we’re happy to have him in the side as a batsman and let the others take some wickets.

“Hopefully Dan will be back bowling in a week or two. However, it gives others more opportunities to shine.”

The only other change to the XI that defeated Stalbridge last weekend sees Dave Herbert drop down to the seconds.

Richards added: “It’s a good opportunity for him to have a bat and bowl some overs, which is just what the seconds need at the moment.”

Tomorrow’s opponents have lost four games so far this season and lie four spots below third-placed Dorchester in the Dorset Premier League table.

The county town side will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce tomorrow, but Richards has warned against complacency.

He said: “We’ve managed to climb the table and sit behind Poole and Parley. We’ve got a month before we play Parley again so we’re looking to go on a winning run.

“We’ve got Wayfarers tomorrow and then Marnhull the following week. We won’t be taking anything for granted because there are no easy games, but we’ve got a real opportunity to go on a run and get into a good position.”

Dorchester: Moxom, Gerety, Belt, Tweddle, Waite, Richards, Mead, Ellis, Q Miller, Morley, Dunham.

n Dorchester Seconds host Christ-church tomorrow, hoping to avoid a repeat of last week’s disappointing display (2pm).

Ian Sibley’s men were all out for a paltry 53 and collected just one point out of a possible 20 after Bere Regis reached their target with eight wickets in hand.

The skipper knows his side face a tough test against high-flying Christ-church but remains quietly confident nonetheless.

He said: “I would like to think that result against Bere Regis won’t happen to us every week so hopefully we will bounce back tomorrow.

“We have had to make a few changes this week but we will have a stronger batting line-up tomorrow.

“Dave Herbert is coming down from the first team and he should strengthen the batting. He can also bowl and will bring more experience to the side.”

Stuart Beasley also returns but the seconds will be without the services of Ian Legg, Steve Budd and Mike Peak.

Dorchester Seconds: Sibley, Voss, J Miller, Chutter, Roe, Pryce, Herbert, Beasley, Joslin, Power, Edney.

n The county town thirds also face Christchurch opposition in the form of their second team (2pm).

Dorchester travel to Hurn Bridge with the aim of breaking the hosts’ unbeaten record.
