IAN Hutchinson is hoping the tide has now finally turned for his side after Weymouth netted a last-gasp winner in a 2-1 victory over Bashley in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Sam Charles’ late strike not only sees the Terras advance into the second qualifying round but it has also bagged them a guaranteed prize fund of £2,200.

That bonus will certainly come in handy after chairman George Rolls announced in his programme notes that the club is currently losing around £5,000 a month, which he assured fans “is being supported by the board of directors.”

Hutchinson was clearly delighted to add a “few pennies to the piggy bank” but the fact his side has now secured back-to-back victories will be even more encouraging as they look to overturn an 11-point deficit to safety at the bottom of the Zamaretto Premier Division.

The Terras’ boss told Echosport: “The tide seems to be turning a little bit. We got a bit of luck at the end with the winner but all credit to Sam Charles for getting there and putting it away, and I am absolutely delighted for him and the rest of the boys.

“To be honest, I thought we deserved it overall on the balance of play. We lacked a bit of quality in the final third in terms of our delivery into the box at times, and a few of the lads were a bit below-par but in some ways it is nice to be able to say that and still come away with the win.”

On the financial front, Hutchinson went on to add: “That victory was worth £2,200 to the club, so I am sure I will be getting a nice call from George Rolls about that later on.

“But to come back from a goal down the way we did was the most pleasing aspect for me. We hit back straight away with a great header from Warren Byerley after a superb cross by Richard Groves and then for Sam to come off the bench and score right at the end was just fantastic.

“We have always told the lads if they keep going and keep working hard, their rewards will come, and that was certainly the case on Saturday.”

The Terras, who will find out their opponents in the next round later today, will now be out to secure a hat-trick of home wins when they return to league action on Thursday with another big clash against Tiverton Town (7.45pm).

Hutchinson said: “The aim now is to keep the momentum going. Winning is a great habit to get into and we want to keep pushing on by getting another positive result on Thursday.”
