IAN Hutchinson’s hopes of retaining the services of Salisbury City loanee Matthew Wright beyond November 2 look to be in the balance.

The burly forward has helped Weymouth claim back-to-back victories in their last two games but with ex-Terra Jake Reid scheduled to serve a three-match suspension for the Whites, which is due to start on October 27, Wright could well be recalled.

Hutchinson said: “In the last couple of games Matt has really showed his worth. He has worked hard, held the ball up well, and all he needs now is a goal.

“As for whether we will be able to keep him past November 2, we will just have to wait and see. Jake Reid got sent off the other week for Salisbury and whether that will present a stumbling block I do not know. We will just have to assess the situation nearer the time.”

Wright is also waiting to serve a suspension after receiving a red card for two bookable offences in the Terras’ 1-0 win over Cirencester Town on October 9, which is expected to see him sit out this Saturday’s Zamaretto Premier Division clash at Hednesford Town.

Hutchinson added: “Matt is available to play against Tiverton Town on Thursday but we are expecting him to be suspended for the trip to Hednesford, although we are still waiting for that to come through.”

If Wright does miss the game at Keys Park, his last outing for Weymouth under his current loan deal will be the FA Trophy second qualifying round tie at Cirencester Town on October 30.

Reacting to yesterday’s draw, Hutchinson said: “It is slightly disappointing for the supporters that we did not get another home tie as we could have done with that to get a few more pennies in.

“It is also another one of those like the Swindon Supermarine tie in the FA Cup where we have only just rec-ently played them and know a lot about them already.

“But hopefully we will show a lot more spirit and commitment at Cirencester than we did at Swindon.”

Hutchinson has no injury concerns ahead of Tivvy’s visit to the Bob Lucas Stadium but he has admitted that the club is thin on the ground in terms of playing staff.

He said: “We are threadbare after getting rid of three or four, and that is a situation we are still very much monitoring.

“It has also had a knock-on effect on the reserves and the youth team, so we are looking to get a few more in throughout the club. There could be some developments in that regard by the end of the week.”

Meanwhile, Hutchinson has praised midfielder Richard Groves for his recent performances.

The ex-Oxford United man provided the cross for Warren Byerley’s equaliser in the 2-1 success over Bashley last Sat-urday and seems to be revelling in his new role down the right flank.

Hutchinson said: “Richard is flourishing at the moment. He has good feet and is growing in confidence.”
