BRENDON King will wait until the very last minute before naming his squad for tomorrow’s Magna Dorset Premier League encounter at Day’s Park (2pm).

Due to the first-team’s busy schedule, the Terras’ boss has no idea what players will be available to him although he is hoping to have Lewis Whyton back.

The ex-Portland United star has been sidelined with a thumb injury in recent weeks, which he sustained at work, but it appears he could be ready to return to action – against medical advice.

King said: “Due to the first team having a lot of games in a short space of time, I am not going to know my squad until the very last minute but that is the way it has to be at the moment.

“At the end of the day, it is not about the reserves, it is about the first team, and I am sure whoever we go to Swanage with will put in a good performance. Going there is tough at the best of times and although we beat them 10-1 at our place earlier in the season we can expect a difficult afternoon.

“They have added a few players to their squad since then and we will have to be at our best for the full 90 minutes.

“I went with the first team last week but from what I have heard from Mark Carter, our first-half performance was not good enough.

“We have a lot of young lads in the side and if they want to step up, they need to learn to be on their mettle for the whole game rather than playing in spells, no matter who they are playing against. And that is something we will keep drilling into them until it sticks.”

As for Whyton’s fitness, King added: “Lewis went to see the specialist yesterday who told him he would be out for four weeks but he has since come to me and said he wants to play.

“Lewis hates missing games and we will talk again about it today before making a decision. His thumb is still in a splint and he would just have to be careful not to fall on it, but like I said we will wait and see on that one.”

King is also waiting to hear if Andy Harris is available and whether the first team will require the services of Mark Robinson, Ben Reiffer, Ryan McKechnie and Sam Charles.
