Dorchester Town have given themselves a huge boost ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Dartford (3pm) – signing Danny Ings on loan for a third month.

The AFC Bournemouth forward, who has scored six goals in 11 appearances for the county town side, was set to return to his parent club this week but Magpies’ boss Ashley Vickers has persuaded the Cherries to extend the teenager’s stay at the Avenue Stadium.

Vickers said: “I spoke to Jason Tindall and gave him the scenario whereby Danny would train with them but play games for us.

“He was happy with it and Danny was desperate to carry on playing for us. It works for both us and Bournemouth and I’m very thankful to Jason and Eddie Howe for their understanding.

“It’s a huge lift for us as Danny has been a big part of things and is an excellent foil for Ryan Moss.

“He’s with us for another month, he’ll go back in December and we’ll look at trying to get him again in January.”

Ings is therefore likely to retain his place in Dorchester’s starting XI when they visit Princes Park.

Despite sitting four places below the Magpies, Dartford held League Two outfit Port Vale to a 1-1 draw in the first round of the FA Cup last weekend.

Dorchester will therefore be hoping the Darts have one eye on Tuesday’s replay at Vale Park when they take to the field tomorrow.

Vickers though, is expecting a stiff test regardless. He added: “They did well to draw with Port Vale and Tuesday will be a big night for them.

“But they will all want to be involved in that game so they will have to earn their place in the team by playing well against us.

“We won’t worry about all that, we will just go and do our thing. And like every team we have played, they will know they have been in a game.

“If we do what we do and approach the game with the right attitude, and prepare properly, I’m sure we can come back with something.

“We have travelled well of late and let’s hope that continues tomorrow.”

The Magpies enter the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Maidenhead United – their first loss in Blue Square Bet South since September 11.

Vickers said: “The trend is still upwards. Let’s make Tuesday’s defeat a blip in that trend and continue with the upward motion.

“We need to use Tuesday’s game to refocus and re-energise.”

Neil Martin was sidelined in midweek with a recurrence of a recent groin injury.

Vickers is hopeful the left-sided player will be fit enough to feature tomorrow, adding: “Neil could be involved, we will see how he progresses.”

Harry Nodwell is back in the fold having completed a two-match ban.
