IAN Hutchinson was disappointed to see Saturday’s clash at Hemel Hempstead Town postponed due to a frozen pitch.

With the Tudors having dropped points against Oxford City and Windsor & Eton in their last two league games, the in-form Terras fancied their chances at Vauxhall Road.

Hutchinson, whose bottom-of-the-table side is unbeaten in their last four games in the Zamaretto Premier Division, said: “It is unfortunate because we really wanted the opportunity to keep our run going but that is just the way it is.

“Postponements are always going to happen at this time of year and at the end of the day we cannot do anything about the weather.

“It means that more than likely we will now have to travel to Hemel in midweek, which is not ideal, but we just have to get on with it.”

On the other side of the coin, the postponement did give Hutchinson the opportunity to rest several key men, including Rob Wolleaston, Ben Gerring and Sam Clarke, who are all carrying slight injuries.

The Weymouth boss added: “Rob was touch and go with his knee, so it gives him another couple of days’ rest, and the same goes for Ben and Sam, who are both struggling with back problems.

“So, there are good sides to it as well, and all we can do is make the most of it, get a bit of rest and prepare for tomorrow night’s Dorset Senior Cup game at Hamworthy United (7.45pm).

“Originally I was going to rest a lot of the first team squad tomorrow but it might now be a case where we give a few of them a run out just to get them ticking over.

“We did have a light training session on Saturday to keep the fitness levels up but some of them could do with a bit of game time.”

Weymouth’s next league assignment will see them tackle back-to-back home games against Banbury United (December 4) and Evesham United (December 11).

And having gone seven unbeaten at the Bob Lucas Stadium in all competitions, they will no doubt go into those two contests looking to claim maximum points, particularly as they now sit eight adrift of safety.
