NETBALL hopefuls were treated to a masterclass from members of the Team Bath squad.
Team Bath, who won the Super League title for the fourth time in May, are coached by Jess Garland, who played for England at under-17, 19 and 21 level.
Alongside six other members of the team, Garland paid a visit to one of South West Dorset Junior Netball League’s weekly training sessions to pass on their words of wisdom.
Organised with the help of England netball development officer for Dorset, Karen Peaty, Team Bath oversaw a group of girls from school years three to 10.
June Reed, junior development officer and head coach for South West Dorset Junior Netball League, said: “The girls worked really hard for their new coaches and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the session.
“After a fun warm-up they performed drills and skills to help improve their game in various areas, including defending and attacking.
“The session rounded up with the various age groups playing a game that allowed the girls to show what they had learnt.
“From the improvement in their game it was obvious that they had taken on board what the Team Bath girls had been showing them.
“As the girls and coaches thanked Team Bath for joining them, they expressed a wish to come back again and the junior league look forward to taking them up on that offer.”
The junior coaching sessions always welcome new members and anyone interested can contact Reed on 01305 814472.
Meanwhile, any senior school interested in joining a new league in February should also contact Reed on the above number.
