MIKE Sprules has devised a game plan that, if executed by his players tomorrow, could finally halt the charge of runaway leaders Salisbury.

Dorchester face their toughest test of the Southern Counties South season tomorrow as the table-topping Wiltshire outfit visit Coburg Road (2.30pm).

Salisbury have so far recorded nine wins from nine, scoring, on average, more than 45 points per game.

Asked how he was planning to stop the opposition, the county town head coach said: “They are flying high and are by far the strongest side in the league.

“But we have got as much information on them as we can and hopefully we’ve got a game plan that can halt their progress. If it comes off then I’m sure it will be close.

“It all depends on what the players’ heads are like on the day. Around 70 per cent of the game is played between the ears and if the attitude is right then we can give them a good game.

“We play well at home and people find it hard to take points off us.”

Injured duo Matt Read and Rich Bament are once again expected to miss out.

Coach Paul Ninnim is targeting back-to-back victories as Bridport bid to stave off the threat of relegation from the same division.

The third-bottom Blues are approaching a crunch period in their season, starting tomorrow with a clash against winless Marlborough at the Brewery Ground (2.15pm).

And the following weekend Bridport travel to basement boys Bradford-on-Avon, whom they plundered 59 points against earlier in the campaign.

Ninnim, whose side’s latest fixture at Oldfield Old Boys fell foul of a frozen pitch, said: “We have two games now that are must-win if we want to get away from the danger zone.

“We want to win both and I believe that if we play as I know we can, we will.”

Weymouth head coach Paul Harding is demanding “more of the same” from his troops as they prepare to visit second-placed Ivel Barbarians (2.30pm).

The Seasiders may have slipped to a 15-12 defeat at the hands of a stronger-than-usual Frome Seconds last Saturday but Harding was delighted with his side’s display.

Tomorrow they face an Ivel outfit looking to return to Southern Counties South at the first attempt.

Harding, whose men lie two spots below their opponents in Dorset & Wilts One South, said: “If we play as well as we did last week we will be unlucky not to come away with something, so I want to see more of the same.

“Ivel are going well so it will be a difficult game but if we play well I’m sure we will get what we deserve.”

Both Gareth Iles and Tom Bell could return to the fold.

Puddletown travel to Swanage & Wareham Thirds, who, like the Villagers, have registered just two wins thus far in Dorset & Wilts Two South (2.15pm).

Skipper Paul Chidley is predicting a close game. He said: “Swanage teams are always hard to break down, but with us both struggling a bit I’m confident that if we play to our strengths we can come away with a result.

“At least the two-week lay off has allowed a number of players, myself included, to shake off injuries.”

Elsewhere, Swanage & Wareham welcome Wimborne to Bestwall for a derby in South West One East (2.15pm).
