THE Britannia will be aiming to secure a semi-final berth in the Dorset County Cup this Sunday as they host Eurasat Lions.

The Bournemouth outfit are likely to pose a stern test for the islanders and are enjoying a fine run of form having won their last three Bournemouth Hayward Sunday League games.

The Portlanders are also enjoying a mid-season purple patch having collected maximum points from their previous five outings.

Brit boss George Eley has no injury concerns and is eager to show the strength of the Weymouth league on the County Cup stage.

He said: “We’ve not had a decent cup run for a few years now so we’re desperate to do well.

“To be fair we’re playing really well at the moment and I just hope the week off due to the weather won’t have upset our momentum.

“I think our league is a real good standard this year so I’m sure Eurasat Lions will be worrying more about us than we are of them.”

Tuatara Bar will look to continue their upturn in fortunes tomorrow when they take on Snookes at Bud-mouth in the Weymouth Sunday League Premiership (11am).

After an anti-climactic start to the campaign, the Maiden Street boys have put together a fine string of results, which has seen them compile a six-game unbeaten run.

In their last two games, fifth-placed T-Bar have scored 20 goals thanks to a 12-0 win over the Railway Tavern and a stunning 8-1 victory over Weyline FC, and they are keen to keep the momentum going.

Influential defender Phil Anderson will be their only absentee tomorrow due to a one-game suspension but another switch could be required if Andy Graham makes his bow for Chickerell United this afternoon.

If he does, that would make him Tuatara’s third senior player and, as League rules state, only two are allowed on the pitch at any one time.

The T-Bar will also welcome John Lamb, Nathan Rodd, Andy Campbell-Bell and Gregg McKinstry back into the squad as they look to continue to turn up the heat on the four sides above them.

Meanwhile, in the Championship, Quayside will be out to extend their seven-point lead at the top when they host Broadmayne at the Marsh (10.30am).

Tony Wyatt, Anthony Crane, Dan McDonald, Rob Maxted and Sean Murphy are all expected to return to Bobby Darch’s squad but Stuart Crane and the in-form Dan Magee will both miss out.
