BEECHCROFT St Paul’s Primary School has become the latest organisation to take up WeySports’ free taster offer.

The community sports trust is now hoping to develop a full football coaching programme for boys and girls at the establishment where coaches Mark Wratten and Carol Biggs will also look to set up after-school clubs for the pupils to enjoy as well.

Police community support officers approached WeySports about getting involved at the school and head coach Tim Davis is delighted with the link-up.

He said: “The successful Fun in the Sun series of soccer schools we continue to run have proved how beneficial it is for the police to work closely with children.

“And that is why WeySports likes to encourage the community support officers to get actively involved and engage themselves in the coaching.”

WeySports has also been running football sessions at Radipole Primary School where a total of 50 girls from Years Five and Six took part in small-sided games and learned new skills.

Plans are now underway to run an after-school club while two Year Six classes have also been taking part in curriculum time coaching as part of the Subway-sponsored Teeny Weenies programme.

WeySports continues to offer three free-taster sessions to any school in Weymouth and Portland, who can find out more information by contacting Davis on 07974885259 or via email at tim_wfc@hotmail.com
