STEVE Alcock will be asking for more of the same from his Weymouth Sports side tomorrow when they travel to Gillingham Town Reserves (2pm).

Five consecutive victories have seen Sports rise to second in the Dorset Senior League and the club’s determined player-manager is desperate for the run to continue.

Alcock said: “Gillingham have lost their last couple so I’m not sure what frame of mind they will be in.

“They were going well before that and scoring freely so whether they have had a few players missing recently I do not know but I am sure the game will be another tough one for us.

“The pitch up there is big and undulating, and open to the elements, but all we can do is go there and try and continue in the same manner as the last few weeks.”

Sports have conceded just two goals in their last six outings and it is that stubborn rearguard that has helped them turnaround their disappointing early season form.

Alcock added: “Our decision making has got better and the whole team is now taking responsibility from front to back.

“We are now working much harder as a unit and closing down high up the pitch and long may it continue.”

Sports will be without skipper Carl Mutch and defender Simon Austin for the clash but Jason Thoday, Tom Hastie and Gerry Delaplanque could all return. Stuart Dixon will have a late fitness test on his knee.
