BRITANNIA and Duke of Albany will put their Premier-ship title hopes on the line tomorrow when they exchange blows at the Piggery (all 11am).

Defeat for either side would almost definitely put them out of the race for top spot with Rendezvous still clear favourites to take the crown.

Last weekend was billed as crunch time in the top-flight with the Vous and the Duke scheduled to take on reigning champions Rodwell and in-form Tuatara Bar respectively but those titanic tussles will now have to wait after adverse weather scratched all but one fixture.

With the Vous expected to overturn the unpredictable New Inn at Redlands, all the attention is now firmly on the clash on the island where the Duke will be bidding for a sixth successive victory in all competitions.

However, the second-placed side will no doubt find the Brit stiff opposition. Not only did the Portlanders win the first league meeting between the two sides 4-2 back on November 7 but they have also lost just one of their last 10.

And with a draw being no good for either side, a classic end-to-end encoun-ter is expected as the chasing pack try and peg back the high-flying Vous, who require just nine points from their last five games to guarantee their first-ever title.

Elsewhere in the division, Rodwell will entertain Snookes at the Marsh while Tuatara will bid to stretch their unbeaten run to 11 games against basement boys Bar 314 at Budmouth.

Down in the Championship, Quayside need only six points from their last five games to secure the crown and an instant return to the Premiership.

Bobby Darch’s men are unbeaten in their last 15 league games and will fancy their chances against second-bottom Golden Lion at the Marsh, despite being without talented brothers Stuart and Anthony Crane. The Lion have conceded 21 goals in their last two outings.

Meanwhile, the four-horse race for second spot continues with John Gregory, Old Ship and SAS taking on Market House, Rock and Old Castle at Red-lands respectively, and Alexandra going head-to-head with Medics Away at Sandringham.

John Gregory are still in the driving seat for that other promotion berth on goal difference but the Alex are hot on their heels after beating the Southill outfit 3-1 at the Stalls in the only game to take place last weekend.

Joe Djeebet was the man that found the net for the second-placed side but it was not enough to stop their seven-game unbeaten run from coming to an end.

As for Old Ship and SAS, they remain firmly in touch and ready to pounce on any slip-ups.

In the league’s other fixture, Broad-mayne will host Dolphin.
