JAMIE Gosney produced a stunning performance to claim a convincing points victory at the Blandford Tournament.

The Dorchester ABC member squared off against J Blanc from Frome with his unorthodox style giving him a distinct advantage in the early exchanges.

With his sharp left repeatedly penetrating his opponent’s defences and his counter punching and covering up first class, Gosney looked in control throughout although a beautifully executed shot to his jaw did startle him in the second round.

Blanc then continued with some heavy punishment in the final round but the county town boxer stood tall and finished with a flurry of decisive blows that saw him claim an emphatic decision from the judges.

Fellow Dorchester assets Liam Gould and Rodney Dalley were also in action at the show but both suffered narrow defeats despite spirited displays.

Gould came up against Portsmouth’s T Johnson and gave as good as he got with his ferocious left jab and proven power keeping him in the bout throughout.

However, Johnson’s elusive speed ensured he stayed on top as he claimed a slender success and immediately showed his admiration for his opponent with a rib-crunching hug.

Dalley’s bout against Bourne-mouth’s M Sachi was also a classic encounter with the former walking into everything thrown at him with his very own brand of skilfully channelled energy in the ring.

The county town boxer’s speed and straight left continued to work to his advantage and with the odd powerful right thrown in for good measure, Sachi had to dig deep to eventually come out the narrow victor.

The coaching team of Paul Dwyer, Ben Geyser and Matt Hall were all in agreement that all three boxers did Dorchester proud.
