WEYMOUTH Tennis Club’s annual Fun Charity Doubles Tournament on May 14 will support The Baldies’ Appeal by raising funds towards a new digital mammography machine for Dorset County Hospital.

The event was started in memory of former club member Will Mackaness, who sadly died at the age of 16 from a brain tumour, with all monies raised going to a different charity each year.

A club spokesman said: “After hearing how much difference the mammography machine will make to cancer sufferers from local hairdresser Anne-Marie Male, whose friends have launched The Baldies’ Appeal, we are hoping to raise as much money as possible.”

The tournament starts at 9.30am with matches taking place at Weymouth Tennis Club on Radipole Park Drive and the indoor Wey Valley Tennis Centre. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to enter in any combination.

Fancy dress is also encouraged but not compulsory and prizes will be awarded for the best costume and hat. A raffle will also be held and the cost of entry is £15 per pair, which includes a burger or bacon roll, and a cream tea.
